Displaying a Customized Banner Each Time Windows Boots
It is possible to display a dialog box containing a coustomized message-
warning, friendly welcome, or any other information, before logon each time
Windows boots.
To display such a customized banner each time Windows boots,
follow these steps:
1. Open regedit.exe file
2. Search for the
following registry key:
(Windows 95, 98 and ME
users)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr
entVersion\Winlogon
(Windows 2000, XP and NT
users)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Cu
rrentVersion\Winlogon
3. Create a new string value, LegalNoticeCaption
which contains the caption title of the dialog box. The actual text for the
caption title can be enteres by right-clicking on this string value and select
the Modify option.
4. Create another new string value, LeaglNoticeText
containig the body of the message displayed in the dialog box.
5. Exit the
Windows registry. You migh have to restart Windows session for the change to
take effect.
